Job Centre Madness!

September 6, 2007 · 2 Comments

Just been to sign on – well they’ve started suggesting jobs to me now – i’ve only been signing on about 6 weeks! Obviously though I’m too bloody thick to be able to find jobs to apply for by myself! She was trying to get me to apply for a part-time temporary job at Argos! Now I’m not proud – I’m getting to the stage now where I’ll consider anything, but taking a part-time job is just not an option! Try explaining that to the Job Centre staff though. They’re just not realistic.

I pointed out to her that it wouldn’t make any sense as it would affect my housing benefit – and I need to able to pay my rent. Obviously not even listening to what I was saying, she informed me that it was best to take even a temporary job as it could lead to something permanent. I explained to her again that I didn’t have a problem with it being temporary – only with it being part time. She tried to tell me about some kind of service they have where you can work out how much better off you’d be if you took a particular job. She was missing the point.

I’ve just had to fill in a mountain of forms and go through a re-assessment process just because I’ve changed address. Meanwhile I have to explain to my landlord why my rent is going to be delayed yet again! The problem is not one of the amount of money – but one of how much of a delay this ridiculously bureaucratic system causes! Not to mention the sheer bloody hassle of it all! If I was to keep taking temporary part time jobs this process of bureaucracy and delay would be constant! Meanwhile my landlord would get increasingly pissed off and look to throw me out at the earliest available opportunity! Don’t these Job Centre automatons realise that in the real world you need to be able to know when you’re going to be able to pay your bills – so that you can tell the people to who you have to pay your bills – and then be reliable and stick to what you’ve agreed?! The above situation would make that completely impossible!

Meanwhile another friend of mine who is also unemployed due to just finishing University, told me that he was turned down for a job at the Job Centre because he was over qualified! While at the same time they’re telling him to apply for jobs at Argos and the like! And of course after he’s been unemployed a little while they’ll start to interrogate him as to why he hasn’t got a job yet. I wonder what they’d say if he turned round and said “Cos you wouldn’t give me a FUCKING! Job – cos I’m over FUCKING-qualified apparently!!!”

It’s a mad, mad old world – and I’m just getting madder!

i agree with all you said, but its no good complaining about these assholes who run the jobcentre, in your own words “Automotons” they cant think for themselves and they are certainly not paid to think for themselves, all they give a hoot about is getting you off benefit, wether or not that is good for you is irellevant to these fuckers. figures and buearacracy is the name of the game in the job centre. im an artist, trying to find my niche and its a fucking nightmare cos social underclass like me have no right to be artists, i should be stacking fucking shelves at tesco as far as these fuckers care, art is only for the upper class. i went to sign on one day and the fucker behind the desk asked me what i was doing to find work, and told him im an artist and showed him my portfolio, he fleetingly looked at it and then said, perhaps you should be looking for something more realistic, what do you mean i said, he replied “well” ive always wanted to be a astronaut, to which i replied angrily yes well youre too old and too overweight to be an astronaut, but im an artsit and heres proof of my work in my portfolio. he signed me regardless, my art is fucking good if i say so myself, to him it wasnt wethere or not my art was good it was an unrealistic job for me mr underclass. well i turned the table os on that fat mohterfucking little adolf cos everytime i went in after that i decided no longer to be intimidated by this asshole, as soon as i got there i was in his face , not violently you understand, but i realised i could run rings around the idiot with my higher intellect. dont let them intimidate you, they dont have a mandate to do that, be forceful but peaceful and calm with these morons.

I agree i have had about 50 or more errors and incompetency during my pleasurable assosiation with the jobcentre about 30 missed payments payments to wrong bank account , system errors, misinformation , even told i have had TB whern i have never they read an address to me wherre i havent lived in 10 years and ive lived in about 5 otherr addrresses since then. promised call backs hundreds of times literally and only recieved about 5. been lied to about payments being sent and had the phone put down on me when the advisor jumps on the defensive because they wont take ownership of the prroblems. They are stupid idiots that are so far stuck up there own ass they think they are better than everyone but clearly you have to go to special school to work there. i could go on but it just winds me up further. now they want to send me on a course to mess about for 14 weeks making paperr airplanes and models and crap when all i want is a job. if i ever decide to kill myself im gunna take some of these cunts with me lol
